About Us Westoning Players are a very sociable, friendly amateur dramatic group with members from Westoning and surrounding areas of Bedfordshire. The group was formed in 1975.We perform two or three productions a year, striving to include as many members as possible on stage and off. We are fortunate to have a pool of committed, skilled and willing members who are keen to be involved in all aspects of theatre-craft.
We cover various genres of theatre from pantomime to serious drama. We do like our audiences to enjoy themselves! Audiences come from further afield than Bedfordshire, but we are basically a village society, rehearsing and performing in Westoning Village Hall. Westoning Players regularly combine with local charities and organizations in order to raise funds; in Spring 2008 we raised funds with Westoning Lower School PTA and the local Scouts Fellowship. The Players performed an interactive murder mystery called "So We Meet Again" by Claire Jones (see links) and the other organisations prepared a delightful supper, ran the bar and other front-of-house activities.
Westoning Players hold an AGM in the first week of
September each year where constitutional matters are discussed. The
committee consists of eight members including chairman, secretary,
treasurer, membership secretary, and four others. Everyone is welcome to our weekly club nights on a Thursday evening
at 7.45pm in Westoning Village Hall. (We meet then whether or not we are
rehearsing for a production). New members are always welcome. Just
come along one Thursday evening; we will make you very welcome.
